Today QUIZINE IN QUARANTINE is bringing you the awesome Banana Bread! This is a really simple dish you can put together, even if you’re a beginner! You will have noticed Banana bread is booming during this lockdown, precisely because of how easy it is to make.

This food can trace its birth to 1930s America. Some say the famed banana bread is a byproduct of the Great Depression where economic hardship meant people were reluctant to throw away old food, even if it was a “rotten banana”.

This toppled with a newly popular and easily accessible range of flour and baking soda products led to innovative housewives coming up with this fabulous invention!

Banana bread, Quizine style!

INGREDIENTS
280g butter
280g self raising flour
280g sugar
4 eggs
2 bananas
2tbsp baking powder
3 bananas, 2 for mixture, one for layering

1. Begin by adding eggs, sugar and butter to bowl and whisk.

2. Next combine baking powder with flour and add to mix. Get whisking.

3. Mash up your bananas before also adding to the mixture. Whisk some more until you reach a smooth consistency.

TIP: You can also add bananas in and mix by hand if you want there to be bigger banana bits in the bread. Whisk as described if you don’t like bits.

4. Place grease proof paper on a tray and slowly transfer your mix from bowl to tray. Make sure to smoothen the top.

5. Layer the top with some more cut pieces of banana.

6. Pre heat oven at 170°C and bake for approx 40 mins.

TIP: You can check if your bread is cooked by sticking a skewer in the middle. If it comes out clean it’s ready.

7. Cut up your delicious, fluffy banana bread and tuck in!
