This episode of QUIZINE IN QUARANTINE is dedicated to our sweet tooth readers and followers. A rich, gooey, chocolaty delight – The Brownie.

The brownie was developed in the United States at the end of the 19th century and popularised in the U.S. and Canada during the first half of the 20th century.

You can make the brownie with whatever your heart desires, whether it’s fruit, nuts or chocolate it remains a popular dessert for anyone with a sweet tooth.

QIQ’s Brownie!

INGREDIENTS
200g milk chocolate
250g unsalted butter
75g honeycomb/ chocolate honeycomb
50g chopped nuts
80g cocoa powder
65g plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
360g castor sugar
4 large eggs
Icing sugar to finish

1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees.

2. Line baking tray with grease proof paper.

3. Snap chocolate into large bowl, add butter and place over pan with
simmering water to melt both and mix.

4. Stir in nits and honeycomb to chocolate and butter mix.

5. Sift cocoa powder and flour into separate bowl, add baking powder,
sugar and mix.

6. Add chocolate butter mixture to cocoa powder mixture and mix
thoroughly.

7. Beat eggs in and mix till you have a silky consistency.

8. Pour brownie mix into baking tin and place in oven for approx
25mins.

9. Allow to cool in tray then add your icing sugar and cut into pieces.
Can be served with custard or ice cream – enjoy!
